Freakin' awesome Bob. A joy to read your account, to close my eyes and experience from here what you experienced there. Maybe if you get to Kona next year we'll come to Hawaii - we need to get over there anyway!!!

Rest up and enjoy life. Soon you'll be back in school and soon you and Amanda will be joined officially forever!

I love coconut water! My favorite is Vita Coco which not only cures hangovers and has more electrolytes than Gatorade, but also has more potassium than two bananas! Its so delicious and such a good way to stay hydrated during my workouts.

Fantastic race and great prespective from the racer's point of view. The elevation chart looks brutal. I'm looking at 20 and wonder if there's a ladder on the side of that cliff. And how cool to meet Mr. Western States himself, Jurek.

Perfect line: "Excuses being reasons to fail, you wallow in them." How we have all been there at our own race. I can hear the thoughts and how the mind is looking for excuses in the miles that seem to be slipping away. You ran a terrific race and there's no doubt you always give 100%. Keep enjoying the journey and the people along the way.

Been with Bob for over 2 years. He has helped me accomplish 3 marathons, 5- 1/2 Ironmans, 1- full Ironman, many smaller lead up races successfully! I have always said you can get any coach that gets you in shape and prescribes work outs. Difference with Bob is he gets to the start line BOTH physically and MENTALLY ready to get it on! In addition he takes great care to get you there healthy. Highly recommend Bob, feel free to contact me directly if you want any other info. 707-974-5918 Oh yea, Bob, no need for any free product...thanks for the help;) Rod

Great run out there on Saturday. Sorry you missed the turn. I feel your pain, that is for sure. You recovered nicely from it and had a great race. Congrats!

If you do want to get out to do some training on the Miwok course with me, Nathan, Brett, etc, let us know we are going to be on course a lot in the next few weeks!

Bob,

Good advice on the mental side of the endurance events. Whether in a running ultra or triathlon or marathon, often the mental toughness is often what separates the athletes.

You are well prepped for Sonoma. You have the speed and have the mental strength to race with anybody. Enjoy the experience.

Tim is another example of a champion that also has that mental toughness. Listen to his podcast on Endurance Planet: http://www.enduranceplanet.com/fire-and-ice-a-race-to-be-remembered.
